Whats Up With Viking Cue

What is up with Viking Pool Cue?

With the recent announcement of Viking Cues shutting down there Wisconsin based operation until a buyer could be found, and the 2010 pool season being in full swing thousands of consumers are looking for replacement shafts, and with Viking stopping production this task is harder than ever.
In the best years of Viking's stint, Viking made close to Thirty Thousand cues in a year. This was a pretty good feat for the small family owned company.

Imported Cues

At the middle of the internet bubble, the internet became more and more popular which made it possible for billiards equipment dealers to trade more readily with cue makers from China, Taiwan and other parts of Asia who could produce pool cues that looked much like the pool cues being made in the US for a portion of the cost.

Companies like Viking cue company were pressured by these imported cues to compete not only with quality, but now price. Viking cue had to beat them with the Viking name which was well established in the 30 years that they had been making cues.

The war over American made cues and imported became a loosing battle. Many of the US based companies let go of tradition and went the international route themselves. Until the end Viking cues were all made in the USA which might have been their demise.

Early this year it was released that Viking's factory stopped all new production. Like in Willy Wanka and the Chocolate Factory this may not be the conclusion to Viking Cue's story. Word on the street is that Viking has been looking for a buyer , they are negotiating terms for the sale of Viking cue. My wishes are that this is true and that Viking continues to turn out there extremely high quality cues.

Right now there are numerous distributors waiting one equipment they ordered before the news of Viking broke.

On top of that, seemingly only a small supply of parts are available on the web. We would like to show you the expansive number of options actually available but not easily found. these cue shafts are made to fit the proprietary Viking Quick Release joint.
