ACS PRESENTS LUCASI HYBRID ALL AMERICAN TOUR
RESULTS FROM 2ND ANNUAL SW POCKET BILLIARD CHAMPIONSHIPS

The seventh and eighth stops on the 2010-2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) were produced at Bull Shooters in Phoenix, AZ, on Sunday, November 7, as part of the 2nd Annual Southwest Pocket Billiard Championships.  Entrants came from as far away as the Chicagoland area, Las Vegas, and many different regions in Arizona on a beautiful weekend for the four day event. The host site was well prepared; the food was good with different specials offered each day with fast and friendly service throughout.  All play was on the 7 foot bar boxes that were in great condition.

Eight –time World Champion, Nick Varner, offered an Instructional Clinic to those who desired to improve their pool playing skills. He also instructed a clinic prior to the event.  Thanks to Robert of 43rd Avenue Tavern for hosting on Tuesday.

The 2nd Annual Southwest consisted of a series of consecutive events from small to mid-size tournaments that were scheduled over the November 4-7 four day period.  Sunday was the wrap up with the two Lucasi-Hybrid All American Tour Stop 8-ball tournaments. Thirty players were divided into two divisions, open bar box (22) and open women (8). Each had added money as did all events throughout the four days. As always the women players showed their intense competition level in the qualifier as the 7th round of play held the results. Congratulations to the players that made this so exciting: Lee White, Patience West (2009 winner), Ann Burgess, Marney Teague, platinum player spotting one game, MaryHelen Mondragon (2009 runner-up) and Lynda Niichel who placed third. The final was played between Pearl Napa and Leandrea Gaff with Gaff prevailing to take the crown 4-1.

The Mens’ Open had 22 players dominated by one-third of the field that were platinum players. They raced one ahead, however that did not deter the efforts of quiet Chris McCreary of Las Vegas, NV. He proceeded to run off racks against Jimmy Moore (Las Vegas, NV) on the way to a fifth place finish. Joining him in fifth was his friend, Fred Bogg (Las Vegas, NV)s. Chris almost went up one more rung on the ladder if not for the crafty play of Ronnie Allen (Las Vegas, NV), who came in fourth. Greg Kuh (Las Vegas, NV) and a local favorite Larry Eans were to face off for the rocking chair. Kuhl had just won over Chris Akey. Larry Eans was the winner with Greg Kuhl second and Chris Akey third.  A total of 650.00 was added into the two divisions, 525.00 men and 125.00 women. Eans and Gaff also earned paid 9-ball entries into the 2011 ACS National Singles Championships at the Tropicana in Las Vegas May7th-14th.

A big thank you to MaryHelen Mondragon for creating and keeping current the very informative gmpaonline.info website. Our thanks to the experienced league operators that supported and ensured the success of the event. Special thanks to Jerry Stuckhart for his insight, Larry Eans for all his hard work in promotion, Lee White and her loyal players, and the help of the various media outlets. The Greater Midwest Poolplayers Association (GMPA) is proud to announce that the event will be back at Bull Shooters next year. It is tentatively scheduled for October. A new division called the Bronze Division will be in place as a walk up entry type. This will be geared toward the average and novice skill player.  Allowing everyone to have a chance at winning the cash.

The Tour spreads out around the country on Thanksgiving weekend: 1). the $1,000 added “8-Ball Turkey Shoot” on Saturday-Sunday, November 27-28, at Match-Ups in Ft. Collins, CO (contact Mike or Nicole Hellmer at 970-482-2337); 2). $1,000 added Dakota Cue Clob 8-Ball Tourney on Saturday, November 27 in Sioux Falls, SD (contact Adam Behnke at 605-275-7665); and 3). $500 added 9-Ball Tourney on Saturday, November 27 at Side Pocket Billiards in Seminole, FL (contact Stacy Lantz at 857-222-0581). ACS PRESENTS LUCASI HYBRID ALL AMERICAN TOUR
RESULTS FROM PONTIAC CRYSTAL PALACE

The thirteenth stop on the 2010-2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) was produced at the Pontiac Crystal Palace in Pontiac, IL, on Saturday, November 13.  The $500 added event featured thirty-one players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Mike Dunklin (Bloomington, IL), captured the A-side, including wins over John Yarger (Chillicothe, IL) in the semifinals 6-2 and Gary Gwinn Jr. (Virden, IL) in the finals 6-1. Gwinn Jr. had earlier dispatched Derek Bernardini (Chenoa, IL) 6-1 in the semifinals just prior to his loss to Dunklin.

On the B-side Dean Foster (Diamond, IL) and Bob Nodine (Streator, Il) eliminated Chris Wilder  (Chenoa, IL) 4-2 and Johnny Kerr (Coal City, IL) 4-1 respectively at 7th place,  Foster and Nodine continued their winning ways by ousting Derek Bernardini and John Yarger at 5th place by respective 4-2, 4-4 scores.  Foster then outlasted Nodine in a hill-hill match by a score of  4-3 to place Nodine in 4th place, but lost his momentum in his 4-0 loss to Gwinn Jr. for a 3rd-place finish. The tourney finals went one set, as undefeated Mike Dunklin topped off his winning night with easily handling Gwinn Jr. 6-1.

By virtue of Dean Foster being the highest-finishing ACS member in the event, he qualified for a free 9-Ball singles entry into the 2011 Lucasi Hybrid ACS Nationals at the Tropicana Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.  The ACS wishes to thank sponsors Lucasi Hybrid Cues, Championship Billiard Fabric and Nick Varner Signature Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour. All entries in the Tour are also entered into a drawing in an end-of-Tour drawing for four (4) $400+value Lucasi Hybrid Cues courtesy of Ozone Billiards.  Sponsorship opportunities and tour stop openings are still available for the 2010/2011 All American Tour by contacting the ACS.
